Straight Talk episode for 4th July...
STRAIGHT TALK (ST) 4 July 2025.
Straight Talk has received credible information from multiple sources indicating that the National Coalition for Caymanians (NCFC) government is advancing a policy that would prevent any individual who ran against a sitting NCFC government member from serving on government boards or holding any politically appointed role(s).
If true, such a policy is a serious breach of the Standards in Public Life and represents an unethical act of victimization. It undermines the core principles of democratic governance and equal opportunity. Worse, it points to a corrupt attempt to consolidate power and silence opposing voices.
Elected officials swear an oath to serve the people of the Cayman Islands, not to protect their re-election chances. The country’s boards and advisory bodies should reflect a diversity of thought, experience, and competence, not party loyalty.
Straight Talk has also learned that two failed candidates from the Caymanian Coalition Party (TCCP) have been appointed as political assistants to the Premier:
Mr. Anthony Ramoon, former candidate for George Town Central
Ms. Natasha Whitelocke, former candidate for Red Bay
Additionally, Mrs. Pilar Moxam (née Bush) has also been hired as a political assistant, bringing the total number of assistants serving the Premier to three.
This concentration of appointments raises serious concerns about favoritism, political stacking, and the use of public resources for partisan purposes.
Straight Talk will continue to investigate these developments and urges the public to remain vigilant and engaged. Caymanians deserve a government that serves all of its people, not just those who support the ruling party.
This is Straight Talk.
